Understanding GI Tests and Procedures
Common Tests
Here are the most common tests you may undergo in our clinic:
- Colonoscopy: Examines the colon to screen for cancer, polyps, and other issues.
- Endoscopy: Examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum to diagnose ulcers, reflux, and more.
- Capsule Endoscopy: A non-invasive way to examine the small intestine using a swallowable capsule with a camera.
What to Expect
During these procedures, you may be sedated to ensure comfort. The procedure itself may take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Afterward, you’ll be monitored until the sedation wears off.
After the Test
Post-procedure, you may experience mild bloating or cramping. Results will typically be available immediately or within a few days.
